How is a Wrongful Death Claim Filed?

Video Transcription:

Justin L. Smith (1977 – 2022): If you or someone you know has been killed or has lost their life as a result of someone else’s wrongful conduct, you can file what’s called a wrongful death claim. A wrongful death claim is filed by, generally, a family member that is close to the deceased, and they become a personal representative of the state in Alabama, and have them have the claim and file it, and prosecute it to try to right the wrong of the one who has lost their life. And while it’s certainly a difficult time, it’s very important that you contact a lawyer so that you can discuss your rights or discuss a wrongful death claim, and we’ll be happy to help you look through that process.
