Justin Smith (9/1977 – 9/2022): In Tuscaloosa, we see a lot of auto injury cases here. We handle many car accident cases in addition to other types of cases, such as worker’s compensation, products liability, and other injury cases. But we’re seeing with the growth in Tuscaloosa, the growth of this area, the growth of the university, we’re seeing many more car accident cases in this area.

I enjoy working up a case as much as I do the ultimate result. From the initial meeting with the client to gathering the relevant records and evidence that are needed to prosecute the case, or whether it be talking with their doctors, taking testimonies from the doctors, building the case to a climax, and I find that by working up the case that way and enjoying workup of the case, the result tends to take care of itself.

My favorite part of being someone’s lawyer is when we get the case resolved and they come in for the final meeting, everything is over, you feel that you’ve helped them and you’ve made a difference.

Absolutely, practicing personal injury law is helping people everyday. You get to help that don’t ordinarily deal with a lawyer, you introduce them to the legal process, and it’s almost a chance to help people and also showing that the legal process and the legal ways are good and not necessarily what they hear about.
