Due to our experience in this area of law practice, we are often asked what steps should be taken immediately following a motor vehicle wreck. We offer the following advice:

  • Call the police and file an accident report. Even if it is a minor accident it is important to remain at the scene until a police report has been completed. The police report will assist in pursuing your claim and will be beneficial in providing information to insurance companies that will be involved.
  • Exchange insurance and drivers license information with the other parties involved in the car accident. If possible, obtain the names and telephone numbers of any witnesses to the wreck.
  • Document the condition of the road and weather when the accident occurred.
  • Take photographs of the damages to the vehicles with your camera or cell phone before any repairs are made. If you have any visible injuries as a result of the car wreck, you should photograph your injuries as well.
  • You should not admit fault for the accident. You should, of course, truthfully and accurately describe what happened to the investigating police officers or state troopers.
  • We recommend that you do not discuss the accident or your injuries and damages with an insurance company until you have consulted with us. Often, the interests of insurance companies involved in the claim are adverse to your own interests.

Hear What Our Clients Have To Say

"My father-in-law was involved in a horrible traffic accident. The firm was great at handling all of his questions. In the end they got him a great settlement, but the thing he remembers most is that the people at the law firm cared about him as a person. I would highly recommend them to anyone in need of legal services."
